John completes 1000-mile bike ride!

John Robertson, a 34-year-old Graphic Designer from Edinburgh, has today completed his epic solo cycling voyage in which he travelled from Land's End to John O' Groats.
John cycled 1000 miles in just 13 days - to raise funds for Advocates for Animals. Before setting off on this mammoth cycle, he said:
"I chose to raise money for Advocates for Animals because they have worked very hard for nearly 100 years to change our attitudes to animals - i think that a society that treats its animals well will very likely treat its people well too. Raising money for them will mean they can keep campaigning to improve the lives of animals."
Throughout his journey, John has been keeping his bike blog up-to-date with his daily adventures. On Day 7, a 59 mile cycle from Waddington to Appleby, the journey gets tough but his spirits remain high:
"The day was marred by lengthy strenuous climbs in the hills of Lancashire, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. The scenery from when I left Waddington to when I reached Appleby was stunning - think Last of the Summer Wine meets Braveheart.
Although the hills were tough work for cycling, the views and the lack of traffic make it worthwhile. After a long climb I enjoyed the complete silence and the 360 degrees view was unforgettable. To then enjoy some fantastic descents onto open road, reaching speeds of 38 mph was better than any funfair I've been to. (Mind you I've not been to a funfair since 1987)."
So far, John has raised a whopping £980 for Advocates for Animals! ... It's not too late to sponsor John, please click here and help us reach £1000 - a pound for every mile he has cycled!
WELL DONE JOHN!
