Elaine Murray MSP has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament condemning the proposed end to the moratorium on commercial whaling.
Ms Murray calls on the Scottish and UK governments to appeal to the whaling nations to stop the practice.
So far, the MSPs who have signed up to this motion are: Sarah Boyack, Elaine Smith, Kenneth Gibson, Sandra White, Rhona Brankin, Patricia Ferguson, Bill Kidd, Cathy Jamieson, Patrick Harvie, Jackie Baillie and Hugh O’Donnell.
Let's show the world that Scotland and it's politicians want commercial whaling to remain illegal - contact your MSP and ask them to sign Elaine Murray's motion.
Advocates for Animals has added its voice to Whale Watch's (an international network of animal welfare organisations) briefing to EU commissioners outlining that the proposed quotas, while intended to reduce the amount of whales killed, will actually result in an increase, especially in Iceland's catch.
