Furry campaigners to join Scottish Lib Dem delegates at annual Party Conference

Advocates for Animals and furry friends, Harriet Hare and Mr Fox, will be in Perth city centre tomorrow in a bid to gain the Scottish Liberal Democrat support for a ban on snares in Scotland. The 'animals' (pictured left) will meet politicians and welcome delegates to their annual Party Conference at Perth Concert Hall Saturday 6 March while handing out information leaflets.
The animals will be warming-up the delegates in time for a major new Advocates for Animals campaign to ban snares in Scotland, due to launch this spring. Advocates for Animals believes that Scotland can set an example for the rest of the UK, so that we will soon have a nation free of these cruel and indiscriminate traps.
Snares are primitive wire traps which can cause terrible suffering and a slow and lingering death. The campaign hopes to achieve a ban on the sale, manufacture, use and possession of all snares in Scotland.
79% of people in Scotland already support a ban on snares.
Speaking before the event Harriet Hare said: “I live in constant fear of being caught in a snare. I am terrified I’ll be trapped and have to endure hours of agony before either dying a horrible death or being dispatched by someone who deems me to be a pest. It’s time these primitive traps were banished once and for all”.
